The Swedish Institute (SI) Leadership programs bring more than 100 young future leaders to the YES Summit 2010. The leaders are all alumnus from SI leadership and management programs and are all leaders and change makers in the fields of media, business and culture. The SI alumnus represent over 18 countries covering three continents.
The Swedish Institute Leadership programs aim to create new relations and lasting, active networks with potential new leaders throughout the world. SI currently has two leadership programs — a Management program for leaders in the business and private sectors in Europe, China and India, and one program for young opinion leaders in the Middle East and North Africa. The Swedish Institute (SI) is a public agency which is a part of the Swedish ministry of foreign affairs. The Swedish institute promotes interest and confidence in Sweden around the world. SI seeks to establish cooperation and lasting relations with other countries through strategic communication and exchange in the fields of culture, education, science and business.

TechnoServe is leading a movement that empowers people in the developing world to build businesses that break the cycle of poverty. TechnoServe has been supporting youth enrepreneurship and enterprise development in Africa and Latin America through youth-focused programs, including business plan competitions and practical entrepreneurship support. Its growing number of green initiatives include development of the bamboo sector, eco-tourism enterprises, and development of rural energy business models.
Riksteatern, Sweden’s National Touring Theatre, creates mental collisions in many languages to get you thinking and feeling. Some 42,000 members build this theatre of possibilities, and create Sweden’s largest meeting place for culture. Riksteatern is set firmly in the tradition, yet at the same time seeks new expressions, a new public and new artists. Södra Teatern is our venue in Stockholm.
The main goals of the SEED Initiative are to build support for social and environmental entrepreneurs, to integrate them into the green economy, and to promote their role as contributors to the wider development process. Through a competition, SEED every year selects the most promising start-up social and environmental entrepreneurs around the globe and provides them with tailored capacity building packages to meet their most urgent needs. The experiences of these entrepreneurs are analysed in the SEED research programme which compiles an evidence base for policy and decision-makers. This information will encourage the development of frameworks, instruments and measures that allow small, micro and medium sized enterprises to contribute to sustainable development and the green economy.
Femina HIP is a multimedia platform and a civil society initiative working with youth, communities and strategic partners across Tanzania. For the past 10 years, our aim has been to promote healthy lifestyles, sexual health, HIV/AIDS prevention, gender equality and citizen engagement. We are now also developing our agenda around entrepreneurship, financial literacy and livelihoods.
Generation Europe Foundation (GEF) is an ngo created in 1995 and based in Brussels. Besides printing and distributing a secondary school diary, Europa Diary, to 3.5 million students (15-18 year olds) in 23,000 schools in each EU member state, GEF also provides a communication platform for young adults, between 19-29 years of age, to engage with both the public and private sectors. Activities include surveys, polls, debates and competitions.
Youth Employment Center STAR, YEC STAR, Moldova:
"By building capacities of over 150 businesses and empowering over 5000 youth initiatives at the local level, we will reduce the poverty and promote new values in the society."Youth Employment Center STAR from Moldova is a Youth Platform designed to work for small business promotion as well as to support the ideas and initiatives development, by empowering young people, especially in rural areas to take action by themselves. YEC STAR is working with over 18 NGOs from all over the country and more than 150 small businesses. It is a recognized institution and a strong supporter at the governmental level for both our members and partners.
PlanetCall is an initiative aimed at mobilizing youth in the action against climate change. PlanetCall’s main feature is the website http://www.planetcall.org/, where young people can add their voice to a global unified call to action. PlanetCall highlights the facts that an abundance of sustainable solutions are available and that world leaders are responsible for providing a framework - based on a binding treaty - to encourage a shift from present old-world technologies to the sustainable solutions of the future.
African Leadership Academy (ALA) seeks to transform Africa by developing and supporting future generations of African leaders. ALA brings together the most promising 16-19 year old leaders from all 54 African nations for an innovative two-year program designed to prepare each student for a lifetime of leadership on the continent. Students are selected to attend the Academy based on merit alone and complete an innovative curriculum with a unique focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, and African studies.
