About Rework the World
The 5th Global YES Summit
- Rework the World, brought together 1700 participants and hundreds of ideas
and initiatives from 120 countries around the world. Taking place June 2-5, 2010 in Leksand, Dalarna, Sweden,
it was the culmination of a two-year collaborative process in a close
partnership between Tällberg Foundation and YES Inc.
The initiative was part of the 10-year YES campaign, which will come to
completion in the concluding YES Summit in Alexandria, Egypt
in 2012, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and job creation for young
people.
Purpose and goal of the initiative
The overarching aim of this initiative was to identify and involve the
best entrepreneurial efforts, to connect entrepreneurs and decision-makers, and
to inspire large scale change in a new direction.
The direct results were defined in terms of transactions, connections
and change processes that would be able to mature through the final phase of
the YES-campaign 2010 to 2012, so as to generate 2 million new sustainable
employment opportunities for young people around the world by the completion of
the YES campaign in 2012.
The entry point to the initiative was the employment opportunities of
the future, and the focus of the summit was on how emerging forces of change
can be turned into transformative efforts.
This initiative made the most out of the unique complementarity of the
YES and LSU networks of young changemakers from developing countries and Sweden and the
Tällberg network of experienced and high level leaders in business, policy and
finance. It also drew upon the documented Tällberg Methodology in creating
effective meetings and dialogues aimed at affecting deeper change in mindsets
and perspectives.
